There are a few running backs widely available that either have good matchups heading into Week 14, or had successful Week 13 performances, or could benefit from an injury. With that in mind, here are five running backs with under 50% ownership in traditional fantasy football leagues that managers can consider picking up for Week 14.
Cam Akers, Rams (53 percent)
Next up — NE, NYJ, @SEA, ARI
Akers tallied a team-high 21 carries for 72 yards and a score in Week 13 and benefitted from Darrell Henderson’s first-half knee injury. Henderson returned down the home stretch after leaving the field but finished with three carries. Akers logged a season-high 52 snaps to lead all running backs and could take the lead in Week 14 if Henderson isn’t up for the task.
Adrian Peterson, Lions (48 percent)
Next up — GB, @TEN, TB, MIN
Peterson has rushed for two touchdowns in back-to-back weeks and has continued to get all of the goal line work while D’Andre Swift is on the shelf recovering from the concussion he suffered against the Washington Football Team. Detroit doesn’t seem to trust Kerryon Johnson in scoring situations so Peterson is the better option.
Ty Johnson, New York Jets (2 percent)
Next up — @SEA, @LAR, CLE, @NE
Johnson erupted for 104 rushing yards and a score on 22 carries after Frank Gore went down with a concussion in Week 13. He could continue to serve as New York’s feature back moving forward. While the Jets haven’t had much success on the ground Johnson’s volume will make him hard to pass on.
Sony Michel, New England Patriots (15 percent)
Next up — @LAR, @MIA, BUF, NYJ
Michel tallied 10 carries for 35 yards and caught one pass for 23 yards in his first game back from the IR. It looks like he’ll cut into Damien Harris’s snaps and the Patriots can ramp up their rushing attack with another viable option. New England totaled 42 rushing attempts in Week 13 and Michel’s involvement will only grow in the coming weeks.
