The Washington Football Team knocked off the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13 without their top running back, as Antonio Gibson went down with a toe injury in the first quarter of Monday’s contest and did not return. His backups — J.D. McKissic and Peyton Barber — filled in nicely and could prove to be viable waiver wire targets ahead of Week 14 if the starter can’t go.
Barber was used as a traditional back on Monday and recorded a team-high 23 rushing yards and a score on 14 carries. McKissic only notched five carries for eight yards but lit it up in the passing game. He hauled in a game-high 10 receptions for 70 yards and will likely play more snaps than Barber because of his versatility. Barber’s rostership is 0.9 percent in ESPN leagues while McKissic’s is a much more robust 60.9 percent and both are worth taking a look at despite the tough matchups Washington has in the coming weeks.
