The junior lightweight division will get a modest spotlight Saturday evening when Top Rank Boxing puts together a card in Las Vegas on ESPN+. Shakur Stevenson faces Toka Kahn Clary at Top Rank’s MGM Grand Bubble setup. The card will be overshadowed by Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight bout with Kubrat Pulev, but this should still be an interesting one.
Stevenson accepted this fight on five weeks notice, per Eric Woodyard. The December 12th plan had been for Miguel Berchelt to defend his junior lightweight title against Oscar Valdez, but Covid-19 has delayed that fight. And so, Stevenson gets a second fight this year before potentially stepping up in competition in 2021.
Stevenson is a heavy favorite for this fight. He is currently a -5000 favorite, with Clary a +1000 underdog. On the three-way, Stevenson is -3335, Clary is +2200, and a draw is +1100.
