There are bets on almost everything surrounding Sunday’s Super Bowl matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers and that includes a chance to guess the result of the coin toss for cash. The novelty prop bets for this on DraftKings Sportsbook involve the toss result, who wins the toss, if the player calling it is correct, and who wins the game. We broke down the odds here:
Coin toss outcome
Regardless of whether the coin lands on heads or tails, the odds are -103. You’ve got a 50% chance of getting this one right, so there’s not much else I can say. The coin flip has resulted in tails outcome in five of the last six Super Bowls though, so maybe keep that in mind. 54 percent of the betting handle at DK and 52 percent of total bets are currently on tails.
Coin toss winner
The 49ers are the road team, so that means they’ll get to call the toss. Both sides are -103 to win the toss, but maybe San Francisco will play the odds and decide on tails. It’s hard to say whether that’s really an advantage though. Currently, 58 percent of the handle is on the 49ers to win the coin toss, while 53 percent of tickets bet are on the Chiefs. A rather odd split.
Player calls toss correctly
Whether you bet on the 49er who makes the coin flip call getting it right or wrong, the odds are -103.
Result of coin toss and game winner
The odds of the coin landing on heads and Kansas City winning are set at +255. A tails result and San Francisco winning is +255 as well. The inverse of both of these scenarios are +310. Getting this bet right is tricky, but it could also be the most rewarding.
