Who is the favorite to win the 3-Point Contest?

We’ve got opening odds on who will come out on top in the 3-point contest at All-Star Weekend on Saturday night.

UPDATE: Devin Booker has been selected to replace Dame in the 3-Point Contest. We’ll update the table with new odds when that information is provided to us by DraftKings Sportsbook.

UPDATE: Damian Lillard strained his groin in Wednesday’s game and has been ruled out for All-Star Weekend. He won’t participate in the 3-Point Contest. The odds have been taken down temporarily on DKSB until a replacement is named.

NBA All-Star Weekend in on the horizon and Saturday night we’ll get to witness the top shooters in the League compete in the 3-Point Contest. DraftKings Sportsbook has released odds for all the participants in the contest. Here’s how things shake out:

NBA 3-Point Contest 2020 Odds

Player Team Odds 3PT% 3PM
Player Team Odds 3PT% 3PM
Joe Harris Nets +475 40.80% 124/304
Devin Booker Suns +500 35.80% 101/282
Trae Young Hawks +500 37% 171/462
Davis Bertans Wizards +550 43.10% 152/353
Duncan Robinson Heat +500 43.7%% 185/423
Buddy Hield Kings +700 38.70% 203/525
Devonte' Graham Hornets +1200 37.20% 185/497
Zach LaVine Bulls +1000 37.60% 160/425

Joe Harris if the defending champion after beating out Stephen Curry in the final in 2019. Other than that, we don’t have anyone else in the field who has won this contest. Still, we’ve got some impressive shooters, including Trae Young, Davis Bertans, Damian Lillard and Buddy Hield.

I don’t really understand why Harris is the favorite just because he won last year. There are much more talented shooters and last year was likely just Harris getting hot at the right time. There are a few bets who stand out towards the bottom. Duncan Robinson has shot the lights out for the Heat this season and has the second-highest 3PT% among contestants, slightly behind Bertans. You can get both players at +550 on DKSB right now.

Hield would be the other name that stands out. He competed in the contest last season and had one of the highest scoring rounds in contest history with 26/34, which tied Harris’ best round (not counting moneyball points). Hield enters the contest shooting nearly 50% from 3-point range in the past 10 games.

My only other player to highlight would be the narrative with Zach LaVine. The Bulls SG was snubbed from the All-Star game and this is the only even he’ll compete in in front of the hometown crowd. I could see him coming out and wanting to put on a show/make a statement. Plus, he has the longest odds to win at +900.
