The XFL is back for Week 2 after an impressive first week of action. The football was not always great, but there was enough decent play that it built some buzz the league can draw on for Week 2. New football leagues draw solid ratings the first weekend, but how fans respond the next week is a more telling sign of any short term success.
The second week of XFL action features the 1-0 teams all facing off and the 0-1 teams all facing off. The Saturday slate closes with the 0-1 Seattle Dragons hosting the 0-1 Tampa Bay Vipers at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, WA. The game kicks off at 5:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast nationally on FOX. If you are not in front of a television, you can stream the game via the Fox Sports App).
Seattle lost their opener 31-19 to the DC Defenders. It was a close game for the first three quarters, and the Dragons had a goal to go situation inside the DC 5-yard line with 5:20 remaining. However, a fumble cost them a chance to turn it into a one-score game and they never recovered.
Tampa Bay lost their opener 23-3 to the New York Guardians. Tampa Bay was the only road favorite in Week 1, but they were a huge disappointment. Quarterback Aaron Murray struggled in a big way and has been ruled out for Saturday’s game with a foot injury. Quinton Flowers will start in his place.
For the second straight week, the Vipers are a road favorite, laying 1.5 points at DraftKings Sportsbook. The point total sits at 43. Aside from the Murray injury, Seattle center Dillon Day is listed as doubtful due to a calf injury.
