Report: Josh Johnson making progress to play on Sunday for LA Wildcats

The Los Angeles Wildcats might be welcoming back their starting quarterback in Week 2. We break down the latest news.

The Los Angeles Wildcats host the Dallas Renegades to open the XFL’s Sunday Week 2 slate, and quarterback Josh Johnson might have a shot at playing. There are a couple reports from Jordan Reid and Alex Alarcon suggesting he could play, although fantasy analyst John Ferguson suggested Johnson is on track to be active, but it is unclear if he will start. If he did not start, Jalan McClendon would get the start with Charles Kanoff out for the game.

As a brand new league, the XFL has a limited amount of so-called “insiders” offering insight into breaking news. On NFL Sundays, we get Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport offering updates on injured players and suggesting who is on track to play. Neither is doing so with the XFL, and so we’re left with a host of random folks offering insight. When it comes to betting and DFS, that’s not exactly ideal.

Johnson himself has not confirmed anything, but he seemed excited with this tweet Sunday morning, and retweeting content suggesting he will play on Sunday.
