Fourth quarter update: The Air Raid has arrived in the XFL. Landry Jones completed 28 of 40 passes for 305 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in a 25-18 Dallas win. Josh Johnson completed 19 of 35 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns. 34 points in the fourth quarter opened the door for big numbers on both sides.
Third quarter update: Landry Jones is providing a significant upgrade to the Dallas offense, and while they are struggling to convert the yards into points, it’s progress for now. Through three quarters, Jones has completed 23 of 35 passes for 250 yards. His two interceptions are not helping matters. For LA, Josh Johnson has completed 13 of 20 passes for 128 yards. Dallas leads 6-3 heading into the fourth quarter.
Halftime update: It’s been a low-scoring affair in Los Angeles on Sunday, in part due to poor red zone performances. The game is tied 3-3 in spite of some decent yardage totals by both quarterbacks. At halftime, Landry Jones has completed 17 of 26 passes for 177 yards and an interception, while Josh Johnson has completed 8 of 11 passes for 63 yards.
The Dallas Renegades and Los Angeles Wildcats both took the field winless Sunday at 3:00 p.m. ET hoping to get a victory. Both teams got their starting quarterbacks back in the fold after being forced to play backups in Week 1. We broke down the XFL debut performances of Dallas QB Landry Jones and Los Angeles QB Josh Johnson here:
Jones is one of the most notable names in the XFL, but got off to a slow start. He was 6-of-10 for 76 yards with one interception in the first quarter. His biggest play of the day came on a 29-yard reception to tight end Donald Parham. The Renegades didn’t put any points on the board.
Johnson wasn’t able to do much either in a 0-0 first quarter. He was 4-of-6 for 30 yards and completed his longest pass to Nelson Spruce for 13 yards. Both quarterbacks have to shake off some rust.
