This weekend brings one of the biggest boxing matches in recent memory. WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder takes on former unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The fight takes place on February 22nd, with the PPV starting at 7:00 p.m. ET, and the main event scheduled to start at approximately 11:00 p.m.
Wilder and Fury fought to a controversial split draw in 2018. Wilder knocked down Fury twice and landed more punches, but Fury was more accurate and out-landed Wilder in 9 of the 12 rounds.
Oddsmakers are not prepared to fully back either fighter in this. DraftKings Sportsbook has their odds set for the fight, and they offer an interesting split. Wilder is +125 to win the fight by some kind of stoppage (KO, TKO, or DQ), but just +900 to win by points. Wilder has won 41 of his 43 fights by stoppage and has averaged 3.3 rounds per fight. Fury is +170 to win by points, but just +500 to win by stoppage. Fury has won 20 of his 30 fights by stoppage and has averaged 6.2 rounds per fight. A second straight draw sits at +2200.
Even though odds for a Wilder stoppage win are shorter, the over/under on total rounds suggests it could take deep into the fight for that to happen. The over/under is set at 10.5 rounds, with the over favored at -121, but the under not a great price itself at -110. Going the distance is +120, while not going the distance is favored at -162.
