Breaking down the Big East basketball tournament schedule

Taking a look at who, where and when for the Big East conference championship, which will be hosted in New York City.

Update March 11, 11:07 p.m. The Big East has decided to restrict attendance for the remainder of its tournament. Access will be limited to players and their immediate family members, coaches, event staff, essential team and conference staff, television personnel, and credentialed media. Each school will receive 200 tickets.

The Big East Basketball Tournament will start on Wednesday, March 11th and run through Saturday, March 14th. It will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The first three rounds will be broadcast on FS1 while the title game will be featured on FOX.

March 11

Game 1: No. 9 St. John’s vs No. 8 Georgetown, 7 p.m.
Game 2: No. 10 DePaul vs. No. 7 Xavier, 9:30 p.m.

March 12

Game 3: Game 1 winner vs. No. 1 Creighton Noon
Game 4: No. 5 Butler vs. No. 4 Providence 2:30 p.m.
Game 5: Game 2 winner vs. No. 2 Villanova 7 p.m.
Game 6: No. 6 Marquette vs. No. 3 Seton Hall, 9:30 p.m.

March 13

Semifinal: Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 winner, 6:30 p.m.
Semifinal: Game 5 winner vs. Game 6 winner, 9 p.m.

March 14

Championship: Semifinal winners, 6:30 p.m.

The Big East is a deep conference when it comes to basketball and is sure to send multiple teams to the NCAA tournament. Villanova has won three straight conference tournaments, but the Seton Hall Pirates sits atop the standings coming down the stretch of the regular season. Teams like Creighton and Marquette will also be in the mix for make tournament appearances. The Big East has consistently had at least four teams get tournament bids in recent years. Who wins the conference tournament is up in the air.
