Who said the XFL isn’t the highest level of football? Because we’ve got gossip and drama just like you’d see from players on Sundays in the fall already.
According to Danny Jones of the The Other League, and XFL podcast, several Tampa Bay Vipers have expressed frustration with head coach Marc Trestman.
The Vipers are 0-2, and have scored all of two field goals on offense in losses to the New York Guardians and the Seattle Dragons, with their only touchdown being a pick-6 last Sunday by DB Tarvarus McFadden.
I spoke to a number of Vipers players today regarding team morale-

I think it’s safe to say that many in the locker room have lost some faith in HC Marc Trestman, with 1 player saying-
“He’s too f— stubborn to change. S—, just admit defeat & change. He’s gonna get my a— cut.”
Take that Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter, you’ve been scooped! Players sniping on background to media when they’re not being used is nothing new, but to have it happen so early in the season, and so early in league history, shows how serious the XFL is being taken already.
The Vipers have played three quarterbacks so far, with Aaron Murray starting against New York but not available due to a foot injury at Seattle, and Taylor Cornelius started Week 2. Both games saw doses of former South Florida star Quinton Flowers used in a slash-type role under center as well.
At one point the favorite to win the XFL, the Snakes are now 6.5 point underdogs to the 2-0 Houston Roughnecks this week in Tampa, and are +1100 to win the eight-team league.
If the Vipers are in the market for a new head coach quickly, we can think of someone that loves Florida, has plenty of experience coaching spring football leagues (including last year in Orlando, where they ended the league as he was in first place), and would probably sell a ton of tickets. Doesn’t hurt that he once coached spring ball for the Tampa Bay Bandits in the USFL a mere 35 years ago...
Just thinking out loud here...
