What to do with Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman, Matt Breida in Super Bowl DFS

We break down how you should handle the San Francisco 49ers’ running backs in Sunday’s DFS contests on DraftKings.

Picking the running back the San Francisco 49ers will use most against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 54 is one of the most important things to succeed in Sunday’s DFS contests. The 49ers have used a trio of running backs to form one the the NFL’s most dangerous rushing attacks. But who will come out on top now?

Matt Breida looked like a feature back early in the regular season but hasn’t been a factor for a while. Tevin Coleman unexpectedly had a breakout performance in the Divisional Round and will be looking to bounce back from a dislocated shoulder he suffered in the NFC title game. Raheem Mostert had one of the most dominant playoff showings by a running back of all-time, but will have competition now the Coleman has returned from injury.

Fantasy football analysis: 49ers RBs Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman, and Matt Breida

Mostert is still the frontrunner to lead the 49ers’ backfield, as he has been full participant in practice since he rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers in his last outing. San Francisco has typically gone with whatever player is hot that game, but it’s hard to not ride Mostert’s momentum in this situation.

Coleman was limited in practice earlier this week but has been removed from the injury report heading into Super Bowl Sunday. It’s hard to tell just what his workload will look like. Of course, he’s already recorded a 100-yard game during this year’s playoffs.

Breida has only scored two touchdowns this year and hasn’t notched 10 carries since Week 10. Don’t expect him to get too many touches in this one.

DFS Recommendation

Mostert ($14,100/$9,400) might be worth a captain’s play, and should certainly worth a priority flex. Coleman ($6,400) should only be considered for a flex slot at best. Breida ($3,200) making a significant mark on the game is a long shot, but he might be worth a value flex play to bolster the rest of your roster.
