The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series kicked off its 72nd season with a bit of a crazy Daytona 500. A rain delay pushed the face to Monday for only the second time. One big accident shook things up midway through the race, and then another left us with a frightening moment involving Ryan Newman.
As Denny Hamlin crossed the finish line, an emergency crew was working to get Newman out of his car after a big accident left it upside down and on fire. It took several hours but we learned later in the evening that Newman was alright, and we could breathe a sigh of relief.
Newman will not be racing this weekend in Las Vegas at the Pennzoil 400, but he’s back home and is expected back later in the season. In the meantime, crews are in Las Vegas preparing for Saturday qualifying at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
We’re back for another round of NASCAR DFS contests at DraftKings. Points are earned for fastest laps (0.5 per lap), laps led (0.25 per lap), finishing position, and place differential (starting position minus finishing position).
We’ve got a full rundown of salaries below, topped by Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, and Martin Truex, Jr. Those three are currently co-favorites at +500. If you’re looking for some value, Austin Dillon and Chris Buescher each have a pair of top ten finishes this season and are available for $6,900 and $6,700, respectively. The qualifying results on Saturday will provide a little more insight into where the real sleepers might lie.
