Saturday’s second XFL matchup will feature two .500 teams. The Dallas Renegades and Seattle Dragons are both 1-1 and looking to secure winning records in Week 3. Each side wants dependable quarterback play moving forward, but the situations are very different.
This contest is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. ET and will take place at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington. It will be broadcast on FOX and can be streamed on the Fox Sports App.
The Renegades opened the season as favorites to win the title, but lost to the St. Louis BattleHawks in Week 1. It’s worth noting that loss came without quarterback Landry Jones. Jones returned to lead Dallas to a Week 2 victory and threw for 305 yards in his XFL debut. He missed on some big throws, but his leadership and experience appeared to help is team in critical, late-game moments. The emergence of Cameron Artis-Payne as a potential go-to back could help Dallas find more consistency on offense.
Seattle’s Brandon Silvers has had serious problems with his accuracy and has only managed to complete 48.3% of his passes in two appearances. His performance last weekend was especially bad, as he only connected on 39% of his attempts in a win against the Tampa Bay Vipers. He’s had success throwing to Austin Proehl in the season opener but didn’t get things going with WR1 Keenan Reynolds. The opposite was true in Week 2. Starting quarterback Kasen Williams (quad) hasn’t played this year and his timetable for return is unclear, so Silvers need to build with what he has.
Seattle is favored by 4.5 points in this one, and the over/under for total points is set at 43. Dallas appears to be the more talented team on the offensive end, but the Dragons could continue to piece things together as the season progresses.
