Derrick Rose, DET @ POR, $5,900 — There aren’t many guard bodies left for the Pistons with Reggie Jackson waived and Luke Kennard sidelined. D-Rose hasn’t done much in two games since returning from injury, but that was against slow-paced, tough defensive teams. This is an ideal matchup against the Blazers, who were just torched by the Pelicans at home. Portland didn’t have any competent perimeter defenders before and now Damian Lillard is out. Rose hasn’t been productive, but the usage is there at plus-30% the past two games.
Other Options: C.J. McCollum, POR vs. DET, $8,400; Jamal Murray, DEN vs. MIN, $7,700
Zach LaVine, CHI vs. WAS, $9,100 — The Bulls are reeling on an eight-game losing streak and LaVine needs to save them here. The Wizards can’t play defense, as has been echoed through the halls of DFS basketball all season long. LaVine dropped 41 points, nine rebounds and four dimes on Washington before the All-Star Break for 63.75 DKFP. We should expect a similar type of ceiling at United Center tonight.
Other Options: Andrew Wiggins, GSW vs. NOP, $8,000; Will Barton, DEN vs. MIN, $5,400
Brandon Ingram, NOP @ GSW, $6,900 — I’m going to ride the “Ingram is underpriced” train all the way to Hell. He didn’t come through for us at $6,800 against the Blazers on Friday night. I think he’s going to come through for us at $100 more in a better matchup against the Warriors without Draymond Green. If Friday was any indication, the Pelicans are dangerous on offense. The Dubs can’t defend the perimeter, so I think we can expect a few 3-pointers to fall for Ingram, which is a plus.
Other Options: DeMar DeRozan, SAS @ OKC, $7,200; Danilo Gallinari, OKC vs. SAS, $6,300
Carmelo Anthony, POR vs. DET, $5,600 — I like McCollum a bit more despite the high price, but Melo should see more looks on offense with Dame out again. Anthony was solid on Friday vs. the Pels with 20 points for 31.75 DKFP. Problem was he was inefficient and shot poorly from the field. I think this is an easier matchup with the Pistons lacking experienced front court bodies with Blake Griffin out and Andre Drummond traded. Melo would be a decent GPP pivot off of McCollum.
Other Options: Pascal Siakam, TOR vs. IND, $9,200; Davis Bertans, WAS @ CHI, $5,500
Nikola Jokic, DEN vs. MIN, $10,200 — Joker is the stud to pay up for on tonight’s slate. He’s the highest-priced player and arguably has the highest ceiling, particularly against the Timberwolves, who are 1-4 and have been getting dominated in the paint the past five games. Jokic is back to playing box score roulette on most nights, but now the totals are just higher. I’d consider the Nuggets All-Star a solid overall play, viable in both tournaments and cash games.
Other Options: Zion Williamson, NOP @ GSW, $8,500; Rui Hachimura, WAS @ CHI, $5,300
