The Morning Line, February 24: Louisville vs. FSU, West Virginia vs. Texas with bet splits

The Cards & the Seminoles battle in Tallahassee for first place in the ACC

The ACC has been lambasted all season by the college basketball media for its lack of depth. When North Carolina is seven games under .500 and in the basement in the league, and other proud programs like Wake Forest and Pittsburgh are just playing out the string, it tends to happen.

But the top of the ACC can compete with anyone. And that right now is Duke and two teams that play tonight in Louisville and Florida State. The Noles are laying 2.5 at home, and have covered in four of their last five. What FSU does as well anyone is rebound the basketball: they’re tops in the ACC in offensive rebounding rate, whereas UL is best in three-point percentage in conference at 38.3%. They’re two efficient teams that score in different ways.

Right now 59% of the handle and 62% of the bets are on FSU to cover at home, but 67% of tickets and 81% of the cash is riding over 141.5 points.

Elsewhere West Virginia heads to Texas, where no one might notice, for a Big XII matchup as the Longhorns attempt to improve their NIT case. What’s happened to Texas might spell doom for Shaka Smart at the end of the season. They’re 16-11, 6-8 in the league, and there’s no realistic path with both Kansas and Baylor awaiting in Kansas City in the conference tournament.

Texas has covered in their last two outings, whereas WVU has not in four of their last five, but the road team will be laying 5.5 points anyway. The bettors are fading the Longhorns almost as much as the home fans, with 61% of the bets and 72% of the handle on Bob Huggins and WVU.

Also tonight at DraftKings Sportsbook, if you take both the former Big East teams in Louisville and West Virginia to win, your odds will be boosted from +215 to +240. It’s a great way to find some extra value if you like the Cards and ‘Eers.
