I bet you didn’t expect to see this kind of headline the day after Super Bowl 54!
A fan accused Philadelphia Flyers mascot “Gritty” of physically assaulting his son during a photo. Chris Greenwell wanted to file charges against whomever is under the mascot outfit for “lung[ing] out of his chair and punch[ing his son] in the back.” According to Greenwell, his son had tapped the mascot’s head after the photo and that prompted Gritty to go after the boy.
Philadelphia police decided there was not enough evidence to move forward with charges against whomever was wearing the mascot outfit in the incident in question. Since the headline might not be sufficiently clear, the Flyers mascot would not have faced charges — the person wearing the uniform would have been charged. That is probably clear to most people, but it’s worth at least offering one more clarification.
