As Hollywood gets ready for the 92nd Academy Awards on February 9th, one of the biggest expected winners is Renee Zellweger for her performance as Judy Garland in Judy.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honors the best in cinema, but only members of the Academy that are actors can vote in the acting categories.
Zellweger has been quite busy picking up awards already, winning the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, the BAFTA (the British Academy of Film and Television Arts), and the Critics Choice Award this year already.
But the irony? Grace Kelly once shockingly won an Oscar by beating out... Judy Garland in 1955 for one of the biggest stunners in Oscar history. Garland not winning for her epic work in A Star Is Born, and losing to what might have been Kelly’s third-best movie that year, shows you never really know until they open the envelope. And even less so when Warren Beatty opens it.
If there is to be an upset, it’s likely to come from Scarlett Johansson for her performance as a divorcing mother in Marriage Story opposite Adam Driver. Her extended no-cut scene with Laura Dern as her attorney has received plenty of accolades, and she could sneak in here, but it’s certainly a longshot as evidenced by her 11-1 price already.
Here are the current odds for Best Picture at the 92nd Academy Awards from DraftKings Sportsbook.
