The Detroit Pistons have been trying to get rid of Andre Drummond for some time, but haven’t had any luck. The big man remains one of the NBA’s most prolific rebounders and could enter free agency after the 2019-20 season if he so chooses. How much will teams be willing to sacrifice for Drummond? He’s pricey, but could elevate the post play of quite a few teams.

Will Andre Drummond get traded before the deadline?

The scariest thing about Drummond is his 2020-21 player option, which is worth $28.7 million. That’s a hefty price to pay, and Detroit seems determined to get at least a future first-round draft pick for him. Potential suitors have been scared off by that asking price Drummond is averaging 17.3 points and 15.6 rebounds per contest, but hasn’t a a frontcourt co-star, as Blake Griffin has been sidelined with yet another knee injury. The Pistons have been trapped by mediocrity for far too long. They haven’t won a playoff series in over a decade and haven’t secured a top five pick since Darko Milicic in 2003. It’s time to hit the reset button, but they might need to settle for less to get the rebuilding process rolling.

Prediction: Won’t be traded for a first-round pick, but Detroit might budge and move him for less.
