The NBA Trade Deadline festivities started early Tuesday night with the blockbuster four-team, 12-player deal involving the Hawks, Rockets, Nuggets and Timberwolves. As a result, we have a ton of value opening up for tonight’s nine-game slate on DraftKings. Let’s go over some options $5K or cheaper to help you save some salary in your lineups.
Jarrett Culver, PG/SF, MIN vs. ATL ($3,900)
The T-Wolves sent Shabazz Napier to the Nuggets as part of the four-team deal yesterday. So that means Culver is the starting point guard for Minnesota the rest of the season. The T-Wolves aren’t playing for much, so getting Culver minutes is important. He had been struggling the past seven games, but this is a great matchup to get right. We should see Culver play close to 30 minutes tonight as well.
Kelly Olynyk, C, MIA @ LAC ($3,400)
The Heat are going to be missing a few role players tonight against the Clippers. Meyers Leonard and Tyler Herro have been ruled out, so we should see Olynyk start at PF with Bam Adebayo shifting over to center. Olynyk has dealt with injuries this season, but when healthy he has a decent ceiling. The Gonzaga product dropped 19 points with nine rebounds for 34.25 DKFP against L.A. a few weeks ago, so his size should give the Clips problems again.
DeAndre Jordan, C, BKN vs. GSW ($4,700)
Jordan has been back in the lineup for four games after missing four due to a finger injury. The past two games he’s looked more like the Jordan of old, posting a combined 16 points with 20 rebounds and eight assists. This is a really good matchup against the Warriors, who are poor at defending bigs and lack size in the front court. The Nets are favored by 7.0 points, so the books think Brooklyn could pull away. If that’s the case, 20+ minutes for Jordan would go a long way in helping him return value at this price.
P.J. Dozier, SG/SF, DEN @ UTA ($3,100)
The Nuggets traded away Malik Beasley to the Timberwolves on Tuesday night. Somebody will have to pick up his minutes at guard and that will most likely be Dozier. In each of the past five games in which Dozier played at least 14 minutes, he returned value on his salary. We could see him reach around 20 minutes tonight vs. the Jazz, so at this price, getting to around 15-20 DKFP shouldn’t be too difficult.
