The LA Wildcats head to Houston to take on the Roughnecks on Saturday. Below we have the official injury report for their matchup. It has a few interesting tidbits that might help us in our betting and DFSing at DraftKings.
This game has the Roughnecks favored by -6 points, as June Jones brings his Run N’ Shoot offense to Houston. The Wildcats head coach, Winston Moss and offensive coordinator Norm Chow, will travel to H-town as underdogs, looking to start the season with an upset.
The injury report looks good for the home team, as the only player with a designation is backup wide receiver Ray Bolden, who is probable. The Wildcats, on the other hand, could be without their starting quarterback Josh Johnson, who has a thigh injury and didn’t practice on Thursday. Johnson is one of the better quarterbacks in the league and even though he is listed as questionable, I would worry about his production as a runner if he does suit up. His backup on the depth chart is Charles Kanoff, but there is a chance Jalan McClendon would get the start as well. We don’t have enough information to make that call yet.
Tre McBride is listed as a backup on the depth chart and is questionable with a thigh injury himself. McBride is a burner, so a leg injury isn’t something he would be able to play through without hurting his speed.
The other questionable players for the Wildcats are all listed as backups on the Week 1 depth chart, so they should be good other than their most critical piece, Johnson. I don’t dislike Kanoff if he gets the start and I expect Moss to have his defense ready, but heading into Houston to take on that pass attack could get dicey if they can’t put up points under their backup quarterback.
