The NFL closed out is 100th anniversary season last Sunday with a wild Super Bowl 54, but football is not finished for the winter! On Saturday, February 8th, the XFL makes its long-awaited return on national television. We get two games on Saturday and two games on Sunday for a league offering rule changes they hope will make for a more exciting product that keeps fans coming back for more.
The XFL closes out its Saturday doubleheader with the Houston Roughnecks hosting the Los Angeles Wildcats at TDECU Stadium, the home of the Houston Cougars college football team. The game kicks off at 5:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast nationally on FOX. If you are not in front of a television, you can stream the game via the Fox Sports App.
Houston debuts with head coach June Jones, which means we will likely see some run-and-shoot principles on offense. LA has a defensive-minded head coach in Winston Moss, which means offensive coordinator Norm Chow brings his BYU roots to the table.
The big news for this game is LA quarterback Josh Johnson is a game-time decision with a thigh injury. He is the highest priced played in DraftKings DFS for this weekend. If he cannot play, Princeton alum Charles Kanoff will get the start.
The matchup features the point spread with the most movement heading into the weekend. Houston opened as a 3.5-point favorite, but Josh Johnson’s injury has moved the line to 5.5. Houston has the third worst championship odds at DraftKings Sportsbook, while LA has the fourth worst title odds.
