Renee Zellweger wins Best Actress at 2020 Oscars

Renee Zellweger had previously won Best Supporting Actress for her work in Cold Mountain in 2004, and now 16 years later she’s back on stage at the Dolby Theater as she wins Best Actress at the 92nd Academy Awards in Hollywood.

Judy wasn’t nominated for any other Oscars, but Zellweger’s transcendent performance was too much to be denied. While Judy Garland never won an Oscar as an adult, bu there was little doubt Zellweger would get two. She was never really challenged in the betting markets, opening as a -1000 favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook. That number got as high as -3335 the week before the Oscars ceremony, but fell back to -2500 during the red carpet entrances as a little bit of flyer speculation came in on Scarlett Johansson for Marriage Story.

But the winner was likely never in doubt, and Zellweger wins the second Oscar that Judy Garland herself was denied more than once.
