The Morning Line: No. 2 Gonzaga vs. St. Mary’s, CAA, Summit, Horizon, NEC Championship Games

There are five automatic berths to be decided tonight, and the power leagues begin their tournament games as well

With five NCAA bids being decided tonight, and the beginning of P5 conference tournaments with the ACC kicking things off, we have hit the peak of conference tournament season.

The No. 2 Gonzaga Bulldogs and the St. Mary’s Gaels run it back for the West Coast Conference championship tonight. These two teams met last year, and SMC went home with the title. The Gaels are safely in the tournament after their win over BYU last night, and Gonzaga is still a No. 1 seed in the NCAA’s even with a loss. This should be some fun, not-too-much-pressure, wide open basketball tonight. And it’ll be really good.

Right now the Zags are getting 50% of the tickets written at DraftKings Sportsbook on their side -9, but with 68% of the cash involved. Over 143 is the choice for now too, with 87% of the bets and 76% of the dollars going atop the number.

Elsewhere the worst team in the ACC kicks off their tournament tonight. The North Carolina Tar Heels playing on a Tuesday in Greensboro isn’t something you ever expect to see, but at least they’re laying 3.5 to the Virginia Tech Hokies despite being having the #14 next to their name. And remember if Georgia Tech wasn’t caught cheating and ineligible for postseason, it would have been a #15.

Finally you might not think much about the Summit League, likely because they don’t have any teams ranked in double-digits nationally. But it’s been a league with great parity this year, and tonight it’ll be No. 6 North Dakota Fighting Hawks vs. No. 1 North Dakota State Bison for the automatic NCAA bid. The game is in Sioux Falls, about 4-5 hours from both campuses, but they’ll be full of green tonight. UND is a hockey powerhouse, and NDSU dominates FCS football, but it’ll be for hardwood bragging rights tonight.
