Are you already for the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament? Sure in most cases it might not be the most glamorous of events on the sporting calendar, but this year it is. If you’re just hopping into college basketball season now for your crash course before the NCAA Tournament, Dayton Flyers sophomore forward Obi Toppin might be the most exciting player in the sport this season.
Toppin is averaging 20 points per game with a team-high 7.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists, a steal and 1.2 blocks. He’s a highlight reel every night, and you’ll want to check him out before he heads to the NBA Lottery after this season.
Dayton is the heavy favorite to win the conference tournament after completing an 18-0 regular season. The Flyers are heading into Brooklyn with 29-2 overall record and a 20-game winning streak. Dayton’s two losses both came in overtime on neutral courts against the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks and a previously ranked Colorado Buffaloes.
The Rhode Island Rams are the biggest challengers according to DraftKings at +500. Rhode Island comes in as the No. 3 seed, but the Rams were just blown out at home by 27 points against Dayton last week.
All eyes will be on the Flyers this weekend as they go for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
