If you’ve ever been to the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden, you know how magical that venue can be for this event.
For now Villanova is the favorite to win the tournament for the fourth-straight year. They’ve beaten a different opponent in the final each season, and are led by stars Saddiq Bey and Collin Gillespie.
There are plenty of teams nipping at their heels however. Markus Howard is the Big East’s all-time leading scorer, and Marquette stands out as a team with a player that can get hot and carry his team to the title, as Kemba Walker and Shabazz Napier and Peyton Siva and so many others have done before.
And there might not be a hotter team in America than Providence, who have won six straight to go from an NIT possibility to an NCAA Tournament lock with the No. 4 seed in this event. Luwane Pipkins has been the breakout star in college basketball the last month, and we’ll see if he can carry the Friars to a deep run in MSG.
