Paul Reed IS warming up for DePaul.— Shannon Russell (@slrussell) March 12, 2020
Update March 11, 8:42 p.m. Reed (hip) is considered a game-time decision. DePaul appears poised to keep his status under wraps until tip off.
Not that this helps much, but I tried to find out if Paul Reed (hip) is playing and was told it's a game-time decision still, too. Neither team is tipping its hand on its Paul. (Reed or Scruggs)— Shannon Russell (@slrussell) March 11, 2020
The DePaul Blue Demons have been without their 6’9” forward for the past three games and they are hoping to have him back on Wednesday as they open up tournament play against Xavier. The team has gone 1-2 since Reed suffered a hip injury, conceding a big loss to Providence in their most recent game with a final score of 55-93.
Reed is the team’s second leading scorer by a small margin, as he averages 14.9 points per game to guard Charlie Moore’s 15.5 points per game. He has a 51.3% field goal percentage and averages 10.6 rebounds per game. Reed’s presence is also extremely important on the defensive end, as he has 74 blocks on the season, which equates to an average of 2.6 blocks per game.
The No. 10 seeded Blue Demons will need Reed back on both ends of the court if they hope to upset the No. 6 seeded Musketeers. DePaul has fallen to Xavier in each of their two prior match-ups this season, as they lost 59-67 on February 4, and then fell short once again as they lost with a final score of 67-78 on February 25.
