The 2020 Masters Tournament will be postponed due to the coronavirus, according to Augusta National Golf Club chairman Fred Ridley. The postponements include the Masters Tournament, the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals. The tournament was originally scheduled for April 9-12.
This news comes 12 hours after the PGA canceled THE PLAYERS Championship after one round and canceled the next three tournaments through the Valero Texas Open.
Rory McIlroy had been the DraftKings Sportsbook favorite in the Masters, sitting at +650. Jon Rahm was next at +1000, followed by Justin Thomas (+1100), Brooks Koepka (+1200), and then Tiger Woods (+1400).
Woods elected to skip the PLAYERS due to back issues. He was hoping to be ready for the Masters, and this postponement gives him some extra time to prepare. Tickets for the Masters have been cheaper than what has been seen in years on the secondary market in anticipation of the possible delay or cancellation of the tournament.
