Chase Young is the overwhelming favorite in this year’s defensive lineman draft class. There are some intriguing names after him.

Almost any mock draft board you look at will feature former Ohio State Buckeyes defensive end Chase Young as the second overall selection in the NFL Draft, right behind LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow.

We are going position by position to get sports bettors ready for the draft, and this is as clear cut as it gets. Young will be the first defensive lineman taken in this year’s NFL Draft. Despite missing two games with a suspension, Young finished 2019 with 21 tackles for loss and led the country with 16.5 sacks.

You will not be making much money if you bet on Young to be first defensive lineman taken at -5000 on DraftKings Sportsbook, which means a $10 bet would net you 20 cents. That’s no fun, so let’s look other possibilities in case there’s an injury, some sort of scandal or a team decides to do the unthinkable by going after a defensive lineman in front of Young.

Former Auburn Tigers defensive lineman Derrick Brown stands at 6-foot-5 and 326 pounds and has the second best odds at +1200, while Javon Kinlaw is the same size except two pounds lighter coming from the South Carolina Gamecocks. He is listed as the third best odds at +1400.

If you’re looking for a longshot, former Penn State Nittany Lions lineman Yetur Gross-Matos is currently at +6600. His 2019 statistics with nine sacks and 40 tackles would’ve been much better had he not played out of position, lining up at nose tackle for plenty of snaps throughout the season.
