Soccer, rugby, cycling, UFC top sports left to bet on

It’s time to broaden your horizons with some international sporting events on which to wager.

The sports world came screeching to a near halt this week due to COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus. Most of the major and minor sports leagues around America and the world announced plans to suspend or cancel play for an indefinite period of time until the situation is sorted out.

Emphasis though on most because there are several leagues around the globe that have decided to keep going amidst the crisis. And that means there are still sporting events on which you can place wagers. Even with March Madness, the NBA, English Premier League, NASCAR, and so many others not taking place, the situations offers a chance to expand your sports betting horizons.

If you’re looking to try out some sports you don’t normally bet on, DraftKings Sportsbook is offering a host of odds.

UFC

This is the most notable “league” with an American connection still holding an event. UFC Fight Night 170 is scheduled tonight in Brazil. Kevin Lee faces Charles Oliveira in the lightweight main event. Lee is installed as the favorite at -148, with Oliveira sitting at +119. The under on 2.5 rounds is favored at -165, and the fight will air on ESPN+.

A mixed martial arts competitor, Bellator, postponed Bellator 241 last night.

Cycling

Paris-Nice 2020 is still going on in the road to the Tour de France. Stage 6 wrapped up this morning with Tiesj Benoot of Team Sunweb claiming victory. Max Schachmann of Bora-Hansgrohe retained his overall lead in spite of a crash on the final descent. Stage 7 is scheduled for Sunday morning and Thomas De Gendt is even money to win the stage. Nairo Quintana is right behind him at +175.

Soccer

We get a full schedule of games in Russian (Russian Premier League), Mexico (Liga MX), Turkey (Super Lig), Australia (A-League), Serbia (Super Liga), Ukraine (Premier League), Belarus (Belarusian Cup), Hungary (Nemzeti Bajnokság I and Nemzeti Bajnokság II), and Argentina (Primera B Nacional).

These will take a little bit of extra research, but it could also open the door to some new rooting interests. The Russian Premier League can be found through YouTube and Super Lig in Turkey is on beIN Sports and FuboTV. FOX Soccer Plus might offer some viewing options throughout the day as well.

Rugby and Rugby League

Rugby is currently going on with Super League, Super Rugby, and NRL. The Stormers and Sharks are currently underway in South Africa, and this evening we get the Highlanders and Jaguares at 7:00 p.m. ET in Argentina. On Sunday, the Brumbies host the Waratahs in Australia.

In rugby league action, the NRL has two matches early Sunday morning. The Manly Sea Eagles host the Melbourne Storm at 1:05 a.m. ET and the St. George Illawarra Dragons host the Wests Tigers at 3:15 a.m. In Super League, airing on FOX Soccer Plus, the Castleford Tigers host St. Helens at 11:30 a.m. ET Sunday morning.

There will be some additional sporting events next week, but this is what you get for the time being. Head over to DraftKings Sportsbook, but make sure and do a little bit of research first!
