It’s Houston and St. Louis atop the XFL, then everybody else heading into Week 5

We’ve got two strong teams in the XFL coming out of Week 4, and six teams all with an assortment of questions. We break down where championship odds sit heading into Week 5.

The XFL wrapped up Week 4, and a week from today we’ll be halfway through the inaugural regular season. The play is improving in some areas, with two front-runners looking particularly appealing at the moment. However, there are a whole lot of question marks in the league.

The XFL playoffs will feature two division winners and then the second place team in each division. Right now, Houston and St. Louis lead their respective divisions, and they also top the XFL Championship odds at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Houston is firmly entrenched as the favorite at +175 after a 27-20 road victory over Dallas kept them undefeated and firmed up their XFL West lead. The Houston defense picked off Landry Jones three times, and it was their best defensive performance to date. It’s easy to see why they’re favored with that offense and a potentially improving defense.

St. Louis has been surging and a win over Seattle win has them at their high-water mark of +250. Jordan Ta’amu was efficient through the air, and their most dynamic player on the ground. It wasn’t a pretty win over Seattle, but the BattleHawks continue to get the job done. They travel to DC in Week 5 with a chance to take a two game lead in the division heading into the second half of the schedule.

It’s hard to find sleepers in the standings at this point. Dallas, DC, and LA all have offered value at one time or another, but none of the three is showing any kind of consistency. Dallas has now lost Landry Jones to a knee injury, Cardale Jones has fallen apart, and LA’s defense and red zone offense are both struggling. I would lean DC given the state of the XFL East race. They’re a game back, and while they have struggled two straight weeks, they can right the ship in a hurry with a win over St. Louis.

New York is coming off a solid win over LA, but it’s hard to get excited about them while their QB situation remains messy. If Luis Perez is the answer, maybe they improve and are worth a gamble, but it’s tough to sort through for the time being. Meanwhile, Tampa is showing considerable improvement, but is Taylor Cornelius for real?

They call it gambling for a reason, and outside of the top two teams in the XFL, the remaining six all have big questions.
