When it comes to the #DKRally campaign, we’re looking for the most amazing rally caps we can find. But today we take a look at another kind of terrific rally: some of the most amazing and best in table tennis history, and some of these will leave you stunned.
This campaign is part of DraftKings efforts with the United Way to raise as much as $1 million for coronavirus relief efforts. And you can be a part of it by uploading a pic or video of yourself on social media with the hashtag #DKRally, preferably wearing a rally cap. For each picture out there, DK will contribute $1 for each video or picture, up to $1 million aiding in the relief efforts related to Covid-19.
Let’s take a look at some of the highlights!
From the Chinese Super League, check out Xu Xin and Zhu Linfeng, and their 41-shot classic here. This is what happens when two southpaws face each other. Chaos: Ensue!
Here’s a 91-shot classic between Par Gerell and Adrien Mattenet at the 2015 Czech Open. Mattenet puts on a clinic of defensive play here, and you can see Gerell almost wearing down from all the smashes he’s attempting that still aren’t turning into winners.
You know that line when your friend starts a story and you interject “is this going to be long or just boring?” Well here’s a table tennis point that’s both! A paint-drying 766 shots between Li Jie and Hitomi Sato at the 2017 Qatar Open, and if they were any more defensive it would have been played under a turtle shell in an underground bunker. Watch the first 30 seconds and the last 30 seconds... you won’t believe how it ends.
And now we finish with the rallies where stuff I didn’t even know was legal happens!
Check out this one with a handstand defend, and a jump on top of the table to finish the point.
Or this one where where the players switch sides of the table! Sure it might be an exhibition but it’s still pretty cool.
