The “Go Home” Raw before WrestleMania has a certain lore to it, just as the Raw after ‘Mania does too (for the smarkiest, most worn out crowd of the year in wrestling). And last night’s Raw, due to not having a crowd and the fact the whole thing just feels super-weird right now, hardly fell into the pantheon of go home shows.
But it still wasn’t bad! Let’s take a look at the highlights.
The Undertaker fires on AJ Styles
A double eagle. A no-hitter. A good promo from The Undertaker!
He’s gives this just enough of a shoot here to make it worthwhile.
Sure he can’t move anymore, and kind of looks ridiculous in the ring sometimes, but you can see why he was one of the all-time greats here. Excited to see how Michelle McCool gets worked into their match this weekend.
Kevin Owens and the Street Profits vs. Seth Rollins, Angel Garza, and Austin Theory (with Zelina Vega)
We got the official announcement on what we already knew, which is that Andrade won’t be participating in this match or at Mania. Zelina said it was due to an injury to his ribs, and replaced him with Austin Theory.
And then Montez Ford kicked off BOTCHAMANIA with this spot. I don’t know if Theory missed the catch or what, but holy moly we’re glad the taller half of the Street Profits is ok.
Owens & the Profits win, but Rollins dropped a big curb stomp afterwards on the head of the man he’s facing at ‘Mania in KO. And then Kevin Owens reminded everyone why he’s one of the best in the business with this outstanding promo.
Shayna jumps Becky
Becky is still the best woman ever on the mic, but Shayna ain’t having it. Lotta “cut a promo and get beat up” between these two, excited to see them get in the ring. This might even be a better ‘Mania moment for Becky Two Belts than her winning both straps at last year’s Showcase of The Immortals, as that crowd was just worn out and the weird rollup-ish-finish didn’t really give her the pop she deserved.
Paul Heyman & Brock Lesnar cut a promo on Drew McIntyre
We stan for Paul E. Dangerously at all times. Not much here for storyline, but still worth a watch because The GOAT with a mic is always fun.
So there’s your Go Home show. It’s kinda meh. Can we just get to the matches that have already been filmed already?
