UPDATE, FINAL: So the Mavericks were able to edge the Pelicans in OT in this one, winning 127-123 in the first meeting between Zion Williamson and Luka Doncic. Here’s how both performed on the night:
Luka Doncic stats — 30 points, 17 rebounds, 10 assists — 73.25 DKFP
Zion Williamson stats — 21 points, six rebounds, three assists — 32 DKFP
So as you can see, two pretty different stat lines for the young stars. Doncic had one of his best games since the All-Star break. Zion had one of his worst games since the All-Star break.
UPDATE, OT: This game is going to a second OT and Doncic is having a ball game. Luka is up to a triple-double and is over 70 DKFP. He’s got 30-15-10 in 40 minutes. Zion is only up to 19 points and continues to struggle with only 30 DKFP.
UPDATE, Third Quarter: Zion is still cold as ice. He’s barely over 20 fantasy points and only has 12 points and three rebounds so far through three quarters. Doncic is having a much easier time against the Pelicans defense. Luka is up to 21 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for 45 fantasy points. We got one more frame left and the score is tight at 87-85 Mavericks.
The long-awaited duel between Luka Doncic and Zion Williamson is in the third quarter. So far both players have been relatively quiet with the Mavericks currently in the lead. Doncic is having a decent game so far and is on pace to come close to a triple-double. Zion is struggling a bit, going 4-10 from the floor with nine points and just three rebounds in 17 minutes. We’ll be keeping an eye on their stats throughout the game and when the game goes final. Stay tuned.
