The long-awaited return of Stephen Curry is finally here. The Golden State Warriors will get 1⁄2 of the Splash Bros. back for Thursday night’s matchup against the Toronto Raptors in Oakland. Curry has been sidelined the past 58 games due to a fractured hand. He was originally expected to return last Sunday against the Washington Wizards, but coach Steve Kerr and the medical staff pushed the date back. Another week of practice and Steph is good to go.
DraftKings price: Stephen Curry ($8,000)
It’s hard to trust Curry in his first game back because generally we see superstars eased back into the rotation. I’m a little bit more optimistic in Curry’s case because it was a hand injury and he’s taken much more time off to let it heal. Curry realistically could have returned much earlier, but the Dubs were out of the playoff race and rushing Steph back made no sense.
So if Steph is limited to around 20-25 minutes tonight, it’s hard to see him returning value at $8K. Still, it’s Curry — he’s arguably the greatest 3-point shooter ever and is a two-time MVP. The Raptors could be shorthanded and the Warriors are coming off their best win of the season — 116-100 at Denver. I don’t mind using Curry in tournaments if he isn’t going to be restricted much. His ownership should be low for a four-game slate given the general concern.
