The Quinton Flowers drama continues in Tampa Bay, as the beloved former Bull has returned to the team he left last week.
Rumors that Flowers had left the team for good last week and had requested his release were everywhere, but he has returned and practiced with the Vipers yesterday and today. Tampa Bay won the first game in team history 25-0 over the DC Defenders last Saturday without the fan favorite that scored the first offensive touchdown in team history in a Week 3 loss to the Houston Roughnecks.
As of now, head coach Marc Trestman says Flowers hasn’t requested a trade to him directly, and the quarterback/running back has returned from his “personal time” away from the team with the intention of playing.
To be noted is Flowers spent all of both practices so far this week lined up as a running back, which makes sense following the strong performance of Taylor Cornelius at quarterback in the win on Sunday.

#XFLVipers practice has only just begun, but it appears Q (@SpotTheBall_9) is working with the RBs again today. RB De’Veon Smith (foot) is out here, but yet to be seen if he’ll be limited or full. Stay tuned

Right now Flowers is listed as a quarterback at DraftKings for Week 4 fantasy purposes, with a cost of $6800. So it would seem to be a terrific spot for DFS players to pick up an extra running back at a value price, right?
The issue is it’s almost an embarrassment of riches at RB for the Vipers: They already have the No. 1 rusher in the XFL is DeVeon Smith (296 yards), as well as No. 3 is Jacques Patrick (231 yards). If Flowers was to get some time behind center again, his playmaking ability with both his feet and his arm could provide value. But it’s tough to see him getting a start and a majority of snaps this weekend.
