Luka Doncic available to play Friday vs. Grizzlies [UPDATE]

Mavericks All-Star is nursing an injury but is also coming off a massive triple-double on Wednesday night. We break it down.

UPDATE: March 6, 5:51 p.m. — Doncic is available to play vs. the Grizzlies, while Finney-Smith has been ruled out. So with Doncic in, I think he’s an elite GPP play at $11,300 on DraftKings. Porzingis ($9,300) is a little less appealing, but still good in tournaments since the matchup is great. The Grizzlies’ front court is ravaged by injuries.

I think this spread is a little too wide. I expect the game to be more competitive considering how well Memphis has played recently. The Mavs are favored by 6.5 points, so I like the Grizz to cover in a close game.

UPDATE: March 6, 1:39 p.m. — Doncic remains questionable to play, but we know that Tim Hardaway Jr. is going to be out. Dorian Finney-Smith is also questionable. So with this new info, we can chalk up both Seth Curry and Delon Wright as decent values with THJ sidelined. If both THJ and DFS are out, Curry, Wright and Courtney Lee are all decent value options on DraftKings.

Dallas Mavericks All-Star Luka Doncic is questionable to play in Friday’s game vs. the Memphis Grizzlies due to an illness. Doncic skipped practice on Thursday in order to deal with the illness. It’s interesting since Luka looked fine Wednesday night when he was dropping a triple-double and juking Jrue Holiday out of his shoes in an OT win over the New Orleans Pelicans. Oh yeah, Tim Hardaway Jr. is also questionable.

Fantasy basketball analysis: Dallas Mavericks injury report

So not only are Doncic and Hardaway questionable, but J.J. Barea is also questionable to play. So three Mavericks we need to look out for Friday. If Doncic is out, Kristaps Porzingis will be a very trendy DFS play. Porzingis has been pretty fantastic for the Mavs since getting 100% healthy. In February, he averaged 25.2 points, 10.6 rebounds and shot nearly 50% from the floor and 40% from 3-point range. In two games in March, he’s posted 38 and 34 points, respectively.

If Hardaway and Barea are out, that’s a bump to guards like Seth Curry and Delon Wright. With Dorian Finney-Smith also potentially out, we could see more of Courtney Lee off the bench.
