The New York Guardians and Dallas Renegades are both 2-2 and looking to move past .500 with a win in Saturday’s final Week 5 game. Both teams have questionable quarterback situations and hope to get production from backup signal callers.
The game will start at 5:00 p.m. ET at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, Texas. FOX will broadcast the game on television and provide a live stream as well on the Fox Sports App.
The Guardians are uncertain about who they’ll start under center. Week 1 starter Matt McGloin has played poorly as of late and suffered a rib injury in Week 3. Luis Perez filled in for a Week 4 win though and has been splitting first team reps with McGloin leading up to the weekend. Perez hasn’t done anything spectacular, but did get New York its second win of the season. McGloin hasn’t tallied a touchdown since he threw one and ran for another in Week 1. Will the the Guardians go back to the veteran and risk halting momentum?
Dallas’ Landry Jones suffered an MCL tear in Week 4 but could return in as little as two weeks. However, that means Philip Nelson will get the starting nod for the first time since Week 1. The Renegades fell short in their season opener and Nelson struggled to make throws down the field. But Donald Parham and Cameron Artis-Payne have emerged playmakers since then. Will Nelson be able to make the big plays and man a more explosive offensive this time around? That remains to be seen.
The Renegades are favored by 7.5 points in this one at DraftKings Sportsbook. The over/under for total points is low at 37.5.
