There isn’t much NBA basketball going on because it’s Saturday in March and College Basketball is king. But if you’re still looking to save some salary on Saturday night’s main five-game slate on DraftKings, here are some options.
Matthew Dellavedova, PG/SG, CLE vs. DEN ($3,100)
Delly is back and he’s playing a decent amount of minutes for the Cavaliers with Darius Garland sidelined. So long as that continues, Dellavedova should keep seeing around 30-35 minutes for the Cavaliers. This isn’t an ideal matchup, but given Delly’s price is almost in the basement and his minutes are high, we don’t need him to do much to return value. His scoring upside is capped, but he has 15 assists and nine rebounds over the past three games.
Mike Scott, PF, PHI @ GSW ($4,300)
The Three-gional Manager has seen more playing time with both Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid sidelined. Embiid may be back soon, but neither will play Saturday vs. the Warriors. Normally, this would be a spot where the Sixers can probably get past a mediocre Warriors team. Insert Stephen Curry, who returned to the lineup Thursday vs. the Raptors and looked pretty good. If this game is close, Scott should see over 25 minutes. He’s returned value with at least 11 points and six rebounds in each of the past three games.
Jordan McRae, PG/SG, DET vs. UTA ($4,500)
The Pistons claimed McRae off waivers a few days ago, so be sure he’s going to play vs. the Jazz. If that’s the case, Detroit is very shorthanded in the back court without Derrick Rose, Luke Kennard, Bruce Brown and Brandon Knight. The Pistons desperately need scoring and McRae can provide that, so my feeling is he’ll see around 20-25 minutes and could have high usage. It’s not a great matchup, but there’s upside in McRae at decent ownership.
Cam Reddish, SG/SF, ATL @ MEM ($4,400)
This isn’t all about Reddish, so let me preface this pick with be sure to monitor the status of Trae Young (illness). My guess is Trae will return, so the Hawks cheap players may not have as much value. Still, this game has a high total at 233 and both teams play at a high pace. Reddish dropped 28 points in Friday night’s loss to the Wizards. His usage was nearly 40%, so if Young remains out then Reddish will be a very appealing chalk play. De’Andre Hunter ($4,900) and Jeff Teague ($3,900 are also decent options if Young is out.
