New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley barely reached 1,000 yards rushing last season. He tallied 1,003 rushing yards through 13 games in his sophomore season after a high ankle sprain slowed him. That didn’t quite stack up to the 1,307 yards he rushed for as a rookie, but he should still be in for a solid 2020.
DraftKings Sportsbook set Barkley’s total rushing yards over/under at 1250.5 ahead of next season. He can reach that mark with a little more help on the offensive line. New York struggled there in 2019 but should be adding young talent there soon. That bodes well for Barkley’s production.
Prediction: Over 1250.5
It’s unclear what the Giants are planning to do with the No. 4 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but one of the more likely possibilities is them selecting an offensive lineman. Even if they end up trading back, they’ll have the means to improve their unit up front for the sake of Daniel Jones and Barkley.
Mike Remmers and Nate Solder struggled at the tackle positions, both against the run and in allowing the most QB pressures among any tackle duo, according to Pro Football Focus. If Barkley can rush for more than 1,000 yards behind that, he should be able to do even better after his team adds a top-tier prospect to the offensive line.
