Why Davante Adams should go over his receiving yards total in 2020

Davante Adams should account for a large chunk of the Packers’ receiving yardage in 2020.

Davante Adams was the Green Bay Packers’ only productive receiver in 2019. He tallied 997 receiving yards through 12 games last season. This was significantly lower than the career-high 1,386 receiving yards he totaled last season, but that’s because he missed four games with turf toe early in the year. Adams is clearly the top pass catcher on the team,

DraftKings Sportsbook has Adams’ over/under for total receiving yards at 1,200.5 for 2020. We think the stars are aligning for him to exceed that total.

Prediction: Over 1,200.5

Green Bay had Adams and a bunch of role-players catching balls from Aaron Rodgers last season. Its offense lost power when Jimmy Graham signed with the Chicago Bears, and it has yet to find complementary pieces for to use out wide in free agency.

The Packers won’t bank on Aaron Jones being their second best receiver again, so they’ll likely start a wideout they select in this month’s draft opposite Adams. But that shouldn’t affect Adams’ production. Only Michael Thomas averaged more targets per game than Adams last year. Thomas, Adams, DeAndre Hopkins, and Julio Jones were the only players that averaged at least 10 targets per contest. If Adams plays 16 games, his numbers could take a big leap.
