Thursday’s three-game Madden slate will feature the Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, New England Patriots, and Houston Texans. DraftKings will have a classic contest for the contest, and we break down some ideal DFS strategies below. You can select your lineup at DraftKings.
Quarterback
Deshaun Watson ($7,000) vs. New England Patriots
Watson is the second most expensive player and averages the second most DKFP (15.5) per game. Even though the Patriots have the best cornerback in the game and a group of other solid defensive backs, Watson also has Lamar Miller to work with out of the backfield. His mobility gives him the highest ceiling in the slate — even when facing a strong opponent.
Other options: Philip Rivers ($6,700) vs. Jaguars
Running back
Leonard Fournette ($5,700) vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Fournette has the highest DKFP (14.8) per contest but is the fifth most expensive option at running back. He’ll likely be an important part of the Jaguars’ offense because of Los Angeles top-notch secondary. He can pound the ground effectively with his strength can also be a contributor as a pass catcher. He has logged seven receptions through three simulations.
James White ($5,600) vs. Houston Texans
White is the top option on his team and neither of the backups playing behind him have been factors. Most of the other backs ahead of him face legitimate competition. White is the best pass catcher of the group and can rack up PPR points better than any other option.
Other option: Ezekiel Elliott ($7,000) vs. Los Angeles Rams
Wide receiver
Keenan Allen ($7,500) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Allen and DeAndre Hopkins ($8,100) are both averaging 17.0 DKFP per game, but Allen won’t have to face Stephon Gilmore. Instead, he’ll face a lesser Jaguars secondary. His exceptional route running should create plenty of wide open opportunities.
Robert Woods ($5,200) vs. Dallas Cowboys
Woods has stats similar to those of Cooper Kupp ($6,200) but won’t be matched up against Byron Jones. His DKFP per game (18.3) only trail Mike Williams in the slate. He should benefit from a more desirable matchup.
Other option: Will Fuller ($4,600) vs. Patriots
Tight End
Ben Watson ($4,300) vs. Houston Texans
Watson didn’t do much in real life for the Patriots, but he’s been a superstar in Madden sims. He leads all tight ends in DKFP per game (16.3) and has notched 270 receiving yards through three contests. Given his level of production so far, his price is a steal.
Other option: Hunter Henry ($5,400) vs. Jaguars
Defense/Special Teams
Los Angeles Chargers D/ST ($3,600) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Los Angeles has a strong secondary, as well as a consistent pass rush. It has three defensive backs who are better than Jacksonville’s best receiver. The Chargers have a favorable matchup against Gardner Minshew.
Other option: New England Patriots ($3,500) vs. Texans
