Social distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic means there is plenty of time for television. And this week, we get a guilty pleasure staple back in our lives with the return of The Real Housewives of New York City. The Bravo staple returns on Thursday, April 2nd with the season 12 premier at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Although sports is mostly on hiatus around the world, DraftKings Sportsbook is offering free-to-play pools on a variety of topics. They have been on sports and non-sports topics, and RHONY is getting a shot this week! The contest involves 12 predictions and if you get the most right, you have a chance to win $1,000.
I’ve been a RHONY fan for a few years now, and so I thought I’d provide some insight into the questions based on my time watching the show. This is based on just the season 12 premiere, and not the full season. It’s also important to note that flashbacks in episode do not count for these hitting.
Will there be a scene in the Hamptons?
For the season, it’s a sure thing they spend time in the Hamptons. However, I doubt we see the Hamptons in the premiere aside from a potential flashback to last season. The Hamptons is almost always a multi-episode arc, and it would be a surprise to shoot that shot right out of the gate.
Will Bethenny Frankel appear in the episode?
Bethenny is an iconic member of the cast, but she decided to depart after season 11. I would not be surprised if she showed up in a flashback, but I think we see a clean break for the time being in the premiere episode as they introduce new cast member Leah McSweeney.
How many housewives’ dogs will appear in the episode?
- Over 3.5
- Under 3.5
The show features six housewives, so more than half having a pet appear seems high. It’s all but guaranteed that Tinsley’s dogs will make an appearance. Ramona’s dog Coco is one of the more notable dogs to show up. Sonja has been spotted with Marley a decent amount on Instagram, so I could see him making an appearance this season. If there is a fourth pet appearance, the wild card would be the newest housewive, Leah McSweeney. I’m not finding any pictures of her with a dog, but maybe we’ll find out on Thursday. I’m leaning under 3.5 housewives’ dogs because it’s total housewives not total dogs of said housewives. If it was the latter, Tinsley’s two dogs would push me to the over.
Will any housewives’ children appear in the episode?
I’m going with yes because of the new cast member. McSweeney has a 12-year old daughter, and while I don’t know what kind of relationship they have, there seems to be a better than even chance McSweeney’s daughter makes at least a brief appearance at some point in the premiere.
Will there be a scene in a doctor’s office?
I’m going with no. We get them from time-to-time, but odds are decent we don’t have one yet.
How many times will Tinsley say Scott’s name?
- Over 2.5
- Under 2.5
I don’t know if you could make this number high enough for me to pick the under.
Will Luann sing in the episode?
They’re saving this bullet for later in the season.
How many times will Jovani be mentioned?
- Over 1.5
- Under 1.5
I’ll go under because this felt like more of a season 11 issue. I could see it coming up if Luann sings Feelin’ Jovani, but that wouldn’t happen in the season premiere.
How many housewives will we see exercising this episode?
- Over 2.5
- Under 2.5
Sticking with the under for now. This pops up, but I don’t see it quite yet.
Will any housewives try or threaten to throw a drink?
Anything overly dramatic will be saved for later in the season. We’ll get some drama in the season premiere, but drink throwing is a slow burn that takes some build-up.
Who will have the most “confessionals” scenes?
- Multiple housewives tie
This is the most random one for me because I can’t find anything tracking number of confessionals. I suppose I could go back and count them all out, but that’s a lengthy process for the time being. I’ll lean Luann for this one, but it’s a tough one.
Number of crying housewives
- Over 1.5
- Under 1.5
As with the drink-throwing, stick with the under for dramatic-related content in the season premiere.
