The 2020 NFL Draft gets underway at 8 p.m. on Thursday, and unfortunately, ESPN analyst Todd McShay will not be able to take part. McShay announced on Thursday that he will not be participating because he is recovering from Covid-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus.
McShay was slated to be the primary analyst on ABC’s coverage of the draft. ABC, ESPN, and NFL Network are all airing the draft this weekend. Mel Kiper was going to serve as the analyst on ESPN, while McShay would join Rece Davis and Maria Taylor on ABC. There is no word yet on what the alternate plan is to replace McShay.
While McShay will not take part, we know he’ll be rooting hard at home for Jordan Love to get selected ahead of Justin Herbert. He placed a $5,000 charity bet with Kiper that Love would be drafted over Herbert. McShay has been high on Love for some time now, and the bet itself was made during the NFL Combine. It offers at least a little bit of tension heading into tonight’s first round.
Regardless of how the bet plays out, we wish McShay the best in his recovery.
