There are $3,000 up for grabs in Wednesday’s six-game slate of Madden simulations. The matchups include Bengals vs. Lions, Washington vs. Chargers, Panthers vs. Cardinals, Browns vs. Buccaneers, 49ers vs. Patriots, and Saints vs. Chiefs. We break down the best plays at each position below. You can enter your lineups here.
Philip Rivers, Chargers ($6,500) vs. Washington
Rivers has been the most productive quarterback of the six starters in this classic slate. Just as important, he’s facing an abysmal Washington defense with a huge arsenal of pass catchers. There are no sure things in Madden sims, but it would be an upset if he finished with less than 15 DKFP in this game.
Andy Dalton, Bengals ($5,600) vs. Lions
Dalton got off to a slow start, but after single digit DKFP each of the first two sims, he’s been in double digits five straight games, and at least 21.48 each of the past three weeks. He’s got some solid weapons and the Bengals offense has been highly productive of late.
Other option: Baker Mayfield, Browns ($5,800) vs. Bucs
Tevin Coleman, 49ers ($5,600) vs. Patriots
The 49ers are a run-heavy attack, and Coleman has been the guy dominating that backfield. Raheem Mostert and Matt Breida have proven valuable in real life, but in the sims, it’s the Coleman show. The 49ers have studs on the offensive line and a running back who will get carries and receptions. It’s hard to pass that up.
James White, Patriots ($5,800) vs. 49ers
White has flirted with double-digits in fantasy points for most of his Madden sims, but has scored at least 16 DKFP in two of his last three games. He’s inconsistent on the ground, but his pass catching is a valuable part of the Patriots’ offense out of the backfield. In DraftKings, where PPR rules are used, he offers more upside than traditional running backs.
Gio Bernard, Bengals ($3,400) vs. Lions
Bernard has only been slightly less effective than Mixon ($6,300), but is nearly half the price in classic. Although Mixon is the more versatile of the two, Bernard has recorded 16 receptions to Mixon’s two so far through seven sims. Get a massive discount and hope for some PPR points from Bernard.
Damien Williams, Chiefs ($5,700) vs. Saints
Williams has been solid enough on the ground, but his involvement in the Chiefs passing game is where his DFS value lies. DraftKings uses PPR scoring, and the past three sims he’s soon a bump in reception productivity, with 14 receptions over that time.
Other options: Christian McCaffrey, Panthers ($7,500) vs. Cardinals; JD McKissic, Lions ($3,100) vs. Bengals
Mike Williams, Chargers ($4,400) vs. Washington
Allen is the better receiver, but the value is with Williams. Realistically, start either one and pair them with Philip Rivers against a bad Washington defense. There’s a ton of upside in this matchup.
Phillip Dorsett, Patriots ($3,400) vs. 49ers
Dorsett is a sleeper pick who could make a splash. Although Julian Edelman is clearly the top dog in New England’s receiving corps, Dorsett leads all Patriots receivers in DKFP per game 15.3. His 95 speed has the potential to be lethal, and his price could allow you to double up on starting quarterbacks in flex spots.
Terry McLaurin, Washington ($5,800) vs. Chargers
McLaurin had a breakout rookie season in spite of inconsistency at the quarterback position. He comes into the game with an 86 catch rating after opening the season with an 82, and an 81 overall rating after opening the season at 70. He had three catch for 56 yards in Washington’s last Madden sim, but prior to that had only one single digit performance in the sim season.
Tyler Boyd, Bengals ($4,800) vs. Lions
A.J. Green ($7,100) is healthy for this simulation, but Boyd offers considerably more value. Boyd has been boom or bust, but the booms have been huge, with over 30 points two of the past three weeks. He’s about even with Green in terms of speed, acceleration, and catching, but is a lot cheaper.
Other options: Odell Beckham Jr., Browns ($7,200) vs. Bucs; Paul Richardson, Washington ($3,600) vs. Chargers
Jordan Reed, Washington ($4,900) vs. Chargers
Reed has scored touchdowns in four of his seven simulations. He dipped below double-digits DKFP last game, but otherwise has consistently totaled well. Most importantly, injuries won’t be a factor the the video game Reed. He has the highest overall rating (84) and catching (87) of all Washington’s pass catchers.
Jared Cook, Saints ($4,800) vs. Chiefs
Other option: George Kittle, 49ers ($6,200) vs. Patriots
Panthers D/ST ($2,700) vs. Cardinals
Buccaneers D/ST ($2,300) vs. Browns
