Best lineup strategy for Rams vs. 49ers Madden simulation Showdown

The Rams and 49ers square off in a Monday Madden simulation at DraftKings. We break down Showdown strategy to consider.

The Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers will face off in a Madden sim Monday at 8:00 p.m. ET. The sim will be set to include rain, as opposed to the normal sunny conditions. We break down the ideal Showdown lineup strategy for the DFS contest. You can set your lineup and play in the DraftKings contest before kickoff.

Captain’s Picks

Tevin Coleman, RB ($11,400)

Coleman is considered the workhorse back for the Niners and pretty much gets all the work on every down. We’ve seen this trend with a lot of teams in Madden sims. The Niners had worked Jeff Wilson Jr. and Raheem Mostert into the rotation in real life during the 2019 season but nope, all Coleman in sims. Coleman has had some monstrous games, including a 235-yard, two TD game in which the RB nearly reached 50 fantasy points. That type of ceiling? At this price? Are you serious?

Brandin Cooks, WR ($10,200)

I like Cooks a lot given the fact that in order to win these contests, you sometimes need to go off the wall. A lot of ownership will go Coleman’s way, will go Jimmy G’s way, will go George Kittle’s way. That means Cooks flies under the radar a bit and still has a very nice ceiling. Cooks has been plenty consistent and has at least 20 fantasy points in three of five games.

FLEX Men

Deebo Samuel, WR ($5,600)

It’s incredibly easy for me to just rattle off a bunch of big names in the FLEX but that isn’t going to win you anything. Samuel is the type of play that can make or break a lineup. He’s relatively cheap for his production and we know speedy WRs can kill it in these sims. Samuel shouldn’t go very high owned, which is what we’re looking for, and he’s had plenty of games in double-digit fantasy points.

Levine Toilolo, TE ($1,000)

Two NFL DFS Madden sims write-ups for Monday. Two recommendations of backup TEs. It’s my favorite trend in sims right now. Paying way down for a cheap TE who really has no upside outside of reaching the end zone. Toilolo has gotten other targets, but really we want him to find pay dirt to return 7x value. This is also a similar contest to the MIN-HOU one. It could be high scoring with two good offenses and there are a lot of guys we want to pay up for, which is why we need extreme value.
