The Match 2020 features quite the betting split

The PGA Tour returns in June, but May brings us a huge matchup to raise money for Covid-19 relief efforts. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will have a rematch of their 2018 head-to-head matchup, with a twist. Woods will pair with Peyton Manning and Mickelson will pair with Tom Brady in a match play contest.

The 18-hole event is scheduled for May 24th starting at 3 p.m. ET. Turner Sports will broadcast the event across TNT, TBS, truTV and HLN. The front nine will feature a Four Ball (Best Ball) format, while the back nine will feature a Modified Alternate Shot format.

DraftKings Sportsbook has posted odds for who will win this contest, and we’ve got a split from the betting public. Woods and Manning opened as -200 favorites, while Mickelson and Brady were installed as +150 underdogs. With just under two weeks until the matchup, 60 percent of the total bets are on the favorites, while 55 percent of the betting handle is on the underdogs.

All four names are big ones, but you have to wonder if Tiger will continue to keep the public backing him while sharps look elsewhere. Of course, this matchup brings the huge question of Brady and Manning’s golfing skills. We know they play plenty, but we don’t know quite how good they are. Bettors will be digging deep for any information we can find on their golf skills.
