Odds for top Bundesliga scorer in 2019-20

Robert Lewandowski is favored to score the most goals in the Bundesliga this season, but Timo Werner has a chance to catch him. We break down the odds of the top scorers in the league here.

Germany’s Bundesliga stopped playing games because of the COVID-19 pandemic but is set to resume play on May 16th with empty stadiums. DraftKings Sportsbook is taking bets on who the league’s leading scorer will be when it’s all said and done. We break down the odds for the candidates to come out on top here.

Robert Lewandowski (-670)

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski leads the Bundesliga in scoring with 25 goals. His team sits atop the table with 55 points through 25 games. Lewandowski has accounted for 34.2 percent of his team’s goals. If he continues at his current rate, it appears like he’ll score between 7 and 9 more goals in the final nine games of the season. His team’s next best scorer has made the net bulge 11 times, so it’s safe to say he’ll continue being the primary option moving forward. However, facing three top five defensive teams down the home stretch could slow him down.

Timo Werner (+300)

Werner is the only player with a legitimate shot at catching Lewandoski. He’s second in the Bundesliga with 21 goals for RB Leipzig. Most of the remaining teams on Leipzing’s schedule aren’t elite defensive teams, but Werner would have to string together a few above average games to cover the space between him and Lewandoski. A match against second place Borussia Dortmund will likely be his biggest challenge.

Jadon Sancho (+25000)

Dortmund’s Sancho is a long shot to say the least. He might be third in the scoring standings with 14 goals, but will also have to face tough competition down the stretch. That will be working against him, but so will playing alongside Marco Reus, who has 11 goals to his name this season. Sancho would have to go on a ridiculous tear to even get near the conversation.

Serge Gnabry (+40000)

Gnabry is Bayern’s second leading scorer with 11 goals, and has the fourth best odds to be crowned the Bundesliga’s top scorer. He’d have to outshine Lewandowski consistently to reach the top which doesn’t seem likely considering that the winger’s his team’s second leading assist man.
