Update: Thiago Moises defeats Michael Johnson by submission (heel hook) at :25 of the second round.
In the lightweight division at UFC Jacksonville tonight, Michael Johnson takes on Thiago Moises in an absolute dead-even fight according to bettors. The fight is part of the preliminary card, which gets started at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
Johnson is a former Ultimate Fighter finalist with a 20-15 MMA record, but has been victorious in three of his last 10 appearances. This is his second-straight fight at lightweight after a 2-2 record as a featherweight.
Moises is 12-4 at 25 years of age, but is only 1-2 in a UFC octagon. He’s gone the distance in all three fights.
The bettors have shifted Moises from a slight favorite to a dead heat, and much of that is due to very heavy action on Johnson. And with the split between tickets and cash, it looks like it might be bigger, sharper action as well. If you do favor Moises, he’s a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu specialist, so his odds of +450 to win by submission might be the smarter way forward if you’re looking for value.
Here are the betting splits at DraftKings Sportsbook for Michael Johnson vs. Thiago Moises at UFC Jacksonville on May 13th.
