The Bundesliga returned to action over the weekend, and it wraps up Matchday 26 with a Monday matinee. Werder Bremen hosts Bayer Leverkusen at Weser Stadium, with the start time set for 2:30 p.m. ET. The match will air on FS2 and you can live stream it at FOX Spors Live.
With the season coming down the home stretch, this is a critical match for both sides — albeit for different reasons. Leverkusen sits in fifth place with 47 points, currently holding the Europa League automatic qualifying spot. They are eight points up on VfL Wolfsburg, which puts them in a good position to avoid the Europa League qualifying match. However, at only four points back of RB Leipzig, Leverkusen has a real shot at a Champions League berth.
On the other side of this, Werder Bremen is in position to be relegated for the 2020-21 season. They have 18 points, putting them one up on SC Paderborn 07, who is in last place. Fortuna Düsseldorf is one spot ahead of them, but has a five point lead. Werder Bremen needs points badly.
Leverkusen is a sizable favorite in this match with -159 odds at DraftKings Sportsbook. A draw is getting +310 odds, while a Bremen win is +380. Kai Havertz, Lucas Alario, and Kevin Volland are currently leading the pack for odds to score the first goal, at +475. Leon Bailey is next at +575. It is notable however that Volland’s status is unclear for the match. Leverkusen’s leading scorer and assist man suffered an ankle injury in February that was declared season-ending at the time. He was running around, kicking the ball ten days ago, so we’ll see what happens on match day.
You can also get some Bundesliga DFS in for the match. DraftKings is offering a Showdown contest, where you pick players entirely from the two rosters in the match. Volland is the most expensive player at $17,100 as a captain and $11,400 as a flex. The top player for Werder Bremen is Milot Rashica. His captain salary is $13,800 and his flex salary is $9,200.
